Confidentiality

Congress passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) in 1996. This law was passed to keep health information private and secure.  This law applies to all health care providers. It is important to keep all information, e.g., name, address, telephone number, social security number, and medical records, private.

Caregivers can only share this information with others who are directly involved in the case. For example, if you have been assigned a client, you are not at liberty to share that client's name or information with other caregivers of FTHC unless they too are directly working with that client. There are severe penalties for violating a client's privacy.
  1. All client information must be kept confidential./li>
  2. Discussing client information must remain only between care providers currently active on the case or with care directors.
  3. Discussing client information must be done in a private area and manner, remembering voice volume and proximity to others.
  4. Client information should not be discussed even with clients themselves in elevators, hallways, cafeterias OR ANY public places.
  5. Written documentation with information about client must be confidential.
  6. Care provider information is equally confidential.
  7. Care directors will strictly enforce our CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY.
